Smoother cylinder cycles
In a standard cylinder configuration, the cylinder operates with the same pressure on both sides. However, with X-Block®, the pressure can be lowered on one side, since the return stroke often requires less pressure to achieve the same speed and power results. With less counter-force on one side, the system pressure can also often be reduced on the other cylinder side. The net effect is a cylinder working on the same speed and power with less pressure. Less pressure operating on both sides reduces the strain on the cylinders.
Air delivered to cylinders is often uneven. The graph below shows an actual situation, before and after an X-Block® installation. Notice the peaks and troughs in the air flow on the left side. Short of air, the cylinders regularly lack air to complete a full stroke, resulting often in the cylinder rod slamming against the cylinder end from a lack of air cushioning. After installation, with air consumption cut by over one half, the air flow becomes smooth. Thanks also to the built-in air cushioning on the cylinder’s return side, the rod does not hit the cylinder ends. The banging and other noises caused previously from a lack of air cushioning stop, noise and vibration levels decrease. As a result, cylinder seals, gables and other cylinder and machine related parts do not need to be replaced as often.
